This is the image I have of Hawaii. Let's see if it turns out to be true!
Well, we're here!
Weather is balmy - as it always is apparently.
The
flight was okay - but was interested to see that QANTAS use iPads as
inflight entertainment. They have a velcro strap to attach them to the
back of the seat and have large stickers on them saying that you have to
make sure not to "inadvertently" remove them from the plane as they
have security tags installed. Not sure what will happen if you try to
sneak one off - alarms, bells, whistles etc.
At
Honolulu Airport, there was a man in an Hawaiian shirt employed to say
"Aloha" to every passenger. As we were at the back of the plane, he must
have said it 350 times already before we got to him. To his credit, he
was still cheerful.
We are staying at the Sheraton
Waikiki, which is like any other big hotel - except that it's right on
the beach. The pool, which we've only just looked at, juts out over the
ocean.
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we sat near the
pool and looked enviously at those dressed appropriately for the
weather. (We still had Melbourne Winter clothes on.)
Pretty much like this, but a few more high rises!
ReplyDeleteI always find it takes a while to get into the appropriately under dressed clothes on holiday. Perhaps you need to practise for a couple of days at home beforehand to get into the swing of things.
ReplyDeleteI hope you were drinking a cocktail (with a silly umbrella) as you sat by the pool. That is appropriate pool-sitting behaviour for people on holiday.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't do the cocktail with the umbrella - but with a slice of pineapple and a cherry. Will that do?
